On Saturday 8th February, 19 Australian students
from Flinders University will visit three ISCO Foundation centers in Jakarta -
Kosambi, Kebon Melati & Penjaringan.
The students will come prepared with Gloves, Garbage Bags and Gumboots
as part of a Community Cleanup at each of the three centers.
The recent flooding in Jakarta has created a hazardous
environment where all the waste and garbage that is thrown into the river has washed up to the surface. By raising awareness about safe waste disposal
practices, this weekends Community Cleanup will be a first step in creating a safe
environment for our children. It will also be a much needed morality boost for the parents and children.
The days event will start at 10am, with the Flinders University Students being
introduced to the parents, children volunteers and project officers. In
Kosambi, 14 ISCO children will also participate in a 1 hour Australian
Football Clinic, organized by the Jakarta Bintangs Footaball Club. In
Penjaringan and Kebon Melati, the Students from Flinders University will
organise Art Workshops at the Activity Centers.
The Community Cleanups will run from 11:30-12:30. A well earned lunch will be provided for all the students, volunteers, parents and children. If you would like more information please
